Objectives

1. Reduce risk that water quality within the impoundment will limit the use of the impoundment for other purposes, such as fisheries or will impact human health or interference with, and damage to, hydropower structures such as turbines.
2. Minimize downstream water quality impacts of the dam on downstream fisheries, aquatic ecosystems and human health.
3. Ensure alignment with the Procedures on Water Quality under the Mekong Agreement strive to maintain the water quality of the Mekong River mainstream.
